Meet dancer and actress Sofia Boutella

Sofia Boutella is known as a dancer, model, and actress.
She is born April 6, 1982, in Bab El Oued, Algeria. She is the daughter of an architect mother and jazz musician Safy Boutella.

She started her classical dance education at the age of 5. When she was 10 in 1992, she left Algeria with her family and moved to France. She started rhythmic gymnastics and joined the French national team at the age of 18.

She took up hip hop and street dance and was part of a group called the Vagabond Crew. They won the Battle of the Year in 2006. Once she took up hip-hop dance, the job offers started flowing: thus her passion turned into a job.

At the age of 25 in 2007, She was selected as the face (and body) of Nike Women's advertising campaigns. She also toured with Madonna (Boutella had been one of her backup dancers for six years), performed in a Micheal Jackson and Rihanna music videos as a dancer.

Sofia Boutella woke up one morning and realized she was craving for a career change. She approached her boss for a heart-to-heart and confessed she wanted to be a full-time actor.

The last time she was onstage was at Madonna's 2012 Super Bowl halftime show.
She has starred in films like StreetDance 2 (Eva), Kingsman: The Secret Service (Gazelle), Star Trek: Beyond (Jaylah), The Mummy (Ahmanet) and the most recent one with Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde as Delphine Lasalle (The rookie undercover female French agent).
